The Bohemian Cafe
Cafe Kassit was a famous coffee house located at 117 Dizengoff Street. Over the years, Kassit became a major cultural landmark and one of the most well-known centers of the Tel Aviv bohemia.
הקפה נפתח בשנת 1935 ברחוב בן יהודה 59 על ידי יחזקאל ויינשטיין, שאף נודע לאחר מכן בשם חצקל איש כסית, ועבר לרחוב דיזינגוף בשנת 1944. שמו ניתן לו על ידי המשורר אברהם שלונסקי, על שם אבן החן "כסיתא".
בשנות ה- 40, ה- 50 וה- 60 של המאה ה- 20 היה כסית המקום הנחשב וה- "חם" ביותר בעיר, אליו הגיעו כל המי ומי. בין מבקריו הקבועים היו משוררים, סופרים, שחקנים, זמרים, וידוענים נוספים רבים.
In 1979 Hatzkel died, and the cafe was managed by his widow Leah and her children Moshe Ish Kassit and Zvia Litman, and later by Leah's son-in-law Zeev Litman. The place continued to operate as Cafe Kassit until 2006, when it changed owners as well as its name.
כסית הונצח בשיר הידוע "איך עושים תקליט" שכתב יענקל'ה רוטבליט והלחין וביצע שמוליק קראוס.
