The series "Close Relatives" is considered the first sitcom of Israeli television, and one of its flagship programs throughout its years of existence. It was broadcast between 1983-1986 and became one of the most popular programs in the era of public television where there was only one channel. "Close Relatives" entered the pantheon of Israeli culture and is re-broadcasted many times to this day. In 2004, a reunion episode of the heroes of the series was even produced.

The series describes the lives and daily routine of extended family members who live in several apartments in the same building. Among the actors who participated in the series were Hanna Maron, Yehoram Gaon, Tikva Dayan, Liora Rivlin, and more. Hanna Maron played the character of an eccentric, original and witty woman who lives by herself on the lower floor. Her call "Open!" loudly every time someone rang the doorbell of her apartment became the hallmark of the series, and even entered Israeli slang.

The building where the family members lived in the series is located on "Vitek 9" street. This address does not exist in reality, and the street is named after the husband of the producer of the series... The series was filmed in the television studios, and the building that appeared from the outside many times in the series is actually located at 123 Rothschild St. on the corner of Hasmonaim St. in Tel Aviv.
